A Look into Dr. Loren Borud
Born and raised in Minot, North Dakota, Dr. Loren Borud began his foray into the field of medicine in Stanford University where he received his BS degree double majoring in Physics and Human Biology with Phi Beta Kappa honors. He then graduated from Harvard Medical School and thus began his career serving in various medical institutions. Among them were UCLA Medical Center, the West Los Angeles VA Hospital, Olive View Medical Center, and the Martin Luther King Drew Medical Center.
Board-certified from both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Borud has enjoyed over a decade of experience in medical practice, amassing knowledge that was not just scholarly but practical as well. Changing gears in life, from the practice to the corporate, Dr. Borud now offers his years of knowledge through his self-owned entrepreneurial venture, Borud Consulting.
Through Borud Consulting, he was able to serve major US companies in the field of biotechnology, providing advice for marketing strategies directed towards patients and physicians, medical microeconomics and even product design and innovation. With further studies in Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, Illinois, he is able to deliver a balance of corporate know-how with his expert knowledge of medicine and medicinal practices.
Aside from consulting, Dr. Loren Borud also takes the time to write. Among his work includes 30 scientific publications and experience as the editor-in-chief for the Atlas of Body Contouring after Massive Weight Loss, published in 2009 by CineMed. He has also devoted time towards writing his own book on the economics of plastic surgery. Entitled Plastikonomics: What I Learned as a Harvard Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Borud presents a valuable look into the field of plastic surgery.
But other than what he has done for his career in the field of medicine, he also enjoys his own hobbies. In his spare time, he runs regularly in the Boston Marathon.
